The libretto was written by film director and screenwriter Christopher Hampton -1988 Academy Award for \u201cDangerous Liaisons\u201d, who worked in numerous films, from \u2018The honorary Consul\u2019 (1984) to \u201cThe quiet American\u201d (2002) to Cronenberg\u2019s \u201cDangerous Method\u201d (2011), just to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>Composer Philip Glass -Golden Globe Award, composer of symphonies, concertos, the music for the famous film Koyaanisqatsi (1982), the opera trilogy \u201cEinstein in the Beach\u201d, \u201cSatyagraha\u201d, and \u201cAkhnaten\u201d, among an impressive amount of pieces widely performed- was present at the first reading of the whole opera.<\/p>\n<p>The opera will mark the beginning of the 2015-2016 season at the Washington National Opera -Francesca Zambello, Artistic Director.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Intensive rehearsals take place at the Washington National Opera.
